Dubai / UAE Work Permit for Indian Candidates

A UAE employer must normally select the candidate and initiate the appropriate employer-sponsored work-permit process. A visit or tourist visa is not permission to work.

General information only — approval depends on the UAE authorities and employer eligibility.

Key facts

  • You need a genuine job offer from a UAE employer.
  • The employer or authorised establishment submits the work-permit application.
  • Both the candidate and the employer must meet current eligibility and documentation requirements.
  • Work must not begin until legal authorisation has been issued.
  • No job, permit, salary, timeline or visa approval can be guaranteed.

Step-by-step process

  1. 1

Submit your CV / profile with consent

Share an accurate CV and profile details. Never provide false experience, certificates or documents.

  2. 2

    Employer screening and interview

The UAE employer screens applications, interviews or trade-tests candidates, and issues a genuine written offer only if you are selected.

  3. 3

Check the offer carefully before accepting

Verify the employer, job title, salary, benefits, deductions, workplace and full contract terms before you sign anything.

  4. 4

Employer applies for the work permit

The employer or authorised signatory applies for the correct UAE work permit and entry/residence process through the competent authorities.

  5. 5

    Complete the required formalities

Entry, medical-fitness, Emirates ID, employment-contract and residence formalities are completed as applicable to your case.

  6. 6

Start work only after lawful authorisation

Employment may begin only once the legally required authorisation has been issued.

Exact steps can vary by emirate, free-zone or mainland employer, permit type and the rules current at the time of application.

Important difference: visit visa vs work authorisation

Tourist / visit visa

Issued for permitted visit purposes. It does not authorise employment in the UAE.

Work permit / employment residence

Initiated or supported by an eligible employer or authorised entity so that you may work lawfully.

Job-seeker or self-sponsored routes

Where available, these have separate eligibility and do not automatically authorise employment. Verify current official rules before relying on them.
