Kuwait Work Permit
Kuwait work permits are issued to the employer by the Public Authority of Manpower, after which the applicant completes visa submission, medical screening and, after arrival, residency formalities.
Overview
A Kuwaiti employer applies to the Public Authority of Manpower for a work permit (visa 18 in most private-sector cases). Once issued, the applicant completes the visa formalities through the Kuwaiti mission or designated centre, including a medical examination at an approved centre. Residency and Civil ID formalities follow arrival.

General process outline
- The employer applies for and receives the work permit from the Public Authority of Manpower.
- The work permit and supporting documents are shared with you.
- You complete the approved medical examination and attestation steps.
- Visa formalities are completed with the Kuwaiti mission or designated centre.
- After arrival, residency and Civil ID formalities are completed by the employer.

Applicant-document checklist
- Passport valid for at least six months with clear scanned copies of all pages
- Recent passport-size photographs meeting the destination specification
- Educational certificates, trade certificates and experience letters
- Attestation or legalisation of certificates where the process requires it
- Police clearance certificate as requested by the employer or authority
- Completed application forms and declarations
Medical and police-clearance information
Kuwait requires a medical examination at a centre approved for Gulf employment purposes, generally including biometric enrolment. Police clearance may be requested. Medical outcomes and eligibility decisions rest with the approved centres and the Kuwaiti authorities.
