- Focus on employer compliance with rules such as accommodation and travel-cost obligations.

Recruitment, advertising and interview
ਨੌਕਰੀ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ
The Canadian employer (or its agency) normally advertises the job in Canada for about four weeks. If no Canadian citizen or permanent resident is hired, the employer may interview foreign candidates and issue a job offer letter.

Employer applies for the LMIA
ਮਾਲਕ LMIA ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
The employer applies to ESDC and must show why a foreign worker is needed. The employer pays the LMIA processing fee (CAD $1,000 per position for most streams). A positive LMIA is issued only if the application is approved.

Candidate applies for the work permit
ਵਰਕ ਪਰਮਿਟ ਅਪਲਾਈ
With a positive LMIA and job offer, the candidate applies to IRCC for an employer-specific work permit, submitting experience, education, police and medical documents as required.
LMIA ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਵਰਕ ਪਰਮਿਟ ਲਈ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ — ਤਜਰਬਾ, ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਸਮੇਤ।

Visa and travel
ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਗਮਨ
If the work permit is approved, the candidate receives the travel document/visa and biometrics instructions. In some streams (for example agriculture) the employer pays the airfare — confirm this in writing in the contract.

Start work in Canada
ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ
The worker arrives at the port of entry, receives the permit and starts work with the same employer named on the LMIA and permit.
ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਕੋਲ ਕੰਮ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ LMIA ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਿਟ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ।
Warnings — ਸਾਵਧਾਨੀ
- Fees: No employer or licensed recruiter may charge you for the LMIA or for a job. Never pay anyone to buy an LMIA or a job offer.ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਮਾਲਕ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ LMIA ਦੇ ਪੈਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗ ਸਕਦਾ।
- Timeline: The full process commonly takes about 3–6 months, and can take longer. No one can promise a fixed date.ਆਮ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ 3 ਤੋਂ 6 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
- Licensing: Anyone giving paid Canadian immigration advice must be authorised — verify them in the CICC public register. Recruiters must also hold the licence their province requires. - Get the employer's legal name, job title, hourly pay, hours, overtime, accommodation and any deductions in writing before you sign or pay anything.
