Europe work permits
Most EU/EEA countries welcome skilled workers, but each runs its own permit categories, salary thresholds and shortage-occupation lists. Below are the routes we most commonly help clients evaluate.
EU Blue Card
A pan-EU permit for highly qualified workers with a recognised degree and a qualifying job offer above the national salary threshold. Rules and thresholds vary by member state.
Germany
- Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card) — points-based job-seeker card for qualified workers.
- EU Blue Card Germany — for university graduates with a qualifying job offer.
- Skilled Worker Visa — for recognised vocational qualifications.
France
Passeport Talent covers salaried employees, researchers, founders, artists and investors. The Recherche d'emploi permit lets qualifying graduates look for work after study.
Ireland
Critical Skills Employment Permit for shortage occupations, and the General Employment Permit for other roles above the salary threshold.
Netherlands
Highly Skilled Migrant (HSM) permit via a recognised sponsor employer, plus the Orientation Year for recent graduates.
